THE MYSTERIOUS ORACLE OF SAYWITE
This mysterious stone is actually an enigmatic monolith made by the Incas. It measures 2.5 meters high and 11 meters in circumference and has 200 figures carved in high and low relief representing urban structures, agricultural terraces, canals, animals, etc.
For some scholars, it is an original representation of the cosmic vision of the Inca civilization, which has left sculpted and perpetuated some conceptions of its worldview and its agricultural and hydraulic rites, or that it was an ancient oracle.
One of the most coherent theories suggests that this stone is a model of the Inca cosmic world, associated with water, the fertility of the land, and the cosmic forces linked to their own existence. It is known that the Andean world conceived of life as a whole; nothing was isolated, and their use of resources was based on gratitude and respect for their deities, especially Pachamama.
This unique monolith is located in the Saywite archaeological complex at an altitude of 3,500 meters in the town of Curahuasi in the province of Abancay in the Apurimac region. The archaeological site is easily accessible and is located a few meters from the road, and an entrance fee of 10 soles is charged.
