      El sitio arqueológico CHAVIN DE HUANTAR es uno de los complejos ceremoniales y religiosos mas antiguos de América, fue construido por la enigmática civilización CHAVIN entre los siglos III a I antes de cristo  y ha sido declarado como patrimonio de la humanidad por la UNESCO el año 1,985.        Local people tell several legends, the most well-known being that in time immemorial, a battle took place here between the gods and humans. They say the battle was bloody and immense, and when the god Wiracocha realized what was happening, he became very angry and punished them by turning them all to stone. From that time on, these warriors remained as stones to this day.
