THE SMURFS' HOUSE IN PERU

This charming place is located in the heart of the Peruvian Andes and hidden among moorlands and strange mountains that make up the famous stone forest of PAMPACHIRI, also known by many as THE HOUSE OF THE SMURFS.

This unique place, which combines whimsical rock formations with local legends, is quickly becoming a tourist destination of great interest to travelers who want to experience unique and out-of-the-ordinary adventures.

To reach the stone forest of PAMPACHIRI we must get to the city of Andahuaylas in the Apurimac region and from there travel 149 kilometers (3.5 hours) in a public transport car and from when we leave we begin an adventure crossing inhospitable valleys and mountains of great beauty until finally reaching this petrified forest that welcomes us with its rare formations.

These rock formations in this stone forest are the result of hundreds of erosive processes that took place over thousands of years. Local inhabitants tell fantastic stories of extraordinary beings and giants who inhabited these lands in time immemorial and left evidence of their presence in these curious houses with small doors and cone-shaped roofs, giving the landscape a magical touch.

Visiting the Smurfs' House is truly an interesting experience, but before traveling to this place, we must take into account some details: bring warm clothing, as this pampa is located at an altitude of over 3,400 meters, and even if there is sun, you can feel the cold coming down from the glaciers; trekking shoes; bring food supplies, because there are no places to buy food in the area; a hat and sunglasses; and waterproof clothing, as the weather changes suddenly in the area.
