THE IMPRESSIVE CANYON OF THE LOST

In the heart of the coastal desert, far from the hustle and bustle of tourist routes, lies the CANYON OF THE LOST, where time and nature have sculpted this incredible natural landscape. It is undoubtedly a geological spectacle, where its rocky walls of ochre and golden tones stand out, contrasting with the clear sky and the profound silence of the desert, creating an almost mystical atmosphere.

To reach this impressive canyon, you must first travel to the city of Ica, located 305 kilometers away. From Ica, it's another 34 kilometers to the town of Ocucaje, and from there, a short hike begins. In Ocucaje, you can hire a local guide who will take you to the canyon. The entire Lost Canyon is just over 5 kilometers long and 200 to 300 meters deep.

The contrast of light and shadow is one of its attractions, as at certain times of day the sun partially illuminates the canyon walls, creating impressive visual effects that change as the day progresses. Visiting this place is to enter a place where nature shows us its strength and patience.

The best time to visit the Lost Canyon is between March and November when temperatures are moderate, since during the austral summer (December to March) temperatures in the desert are very high, especially at midday, and this can be a bit uncomfortable during the hike along the canyon.

The best recommendation is to start the hike early in the morning or in the late afternoon to avoid sun exposure and take advantage of the soft light that enhances the colors of this interesting canyon. Don't forget to bring plenty of water during the trek, sunglasses, sunscreen, a hat or cap to protect yourself from the sun, light clothing, and appropriate footwear for the sandy and rocky terrain.
