THE MYSTERIOUS NAZCA LINES

  

These geoglyphs located in the plains of JUMANA in the Nazca desert 450 km south of Lima were drawn by the mysterious Nazca civilization between the centuries 200 BC to 800 AD, which had as its capital or center of military, administrative and religious power the city of CAHUACHI. In addition to its mystical lines in the desert, the Nazca were skilled potters who stood out in the manufacture of high quality polychrome ceramics.

  

But without a doubt what most stands out about this ancient civilization is that it has bequeathed us one of the great mysteries of humanity such as THE NAZCA LINES of which to this day almost 300 drawings have been found that for thousands of years were lost in time under the sands of one of the driest deserts in the world, these strange drawings represent some animals of the local fauna as well as some elements of its complex worldview, among which the figure of the hummingbird, the monkey, the spider, the whale, the astronaut etc. stands out.

 

    

There are various theories about their use and meaning, starting with the fact that it is almost impossible to observe these enormous drawings with the naked eye, the only way is to observe them from the air, either through an airplane or hot air balloon, and then why make such large figures in the desert if they could not be seen...without a doubt the Nazca lines are shrouded in mystery, there is talk of an astronomical calendar, but to be seen by whom? Could it be a landing place for ships from other worlds?  

 

 

 

 Well, the truth is that archaeology explains that they could be ceremonial roads...but again, the question assails us, roads that led to where? Experts who have investigated the Nazca lines have also conducted studies of the dimensions and orientation of the drawings and have managed to determine that some figures are associated with some constellations, but how could an ancient civilization know space so well without the aid of telescopes and other objects that would allow them to examine the infinite universe? No less important is the fact that for centuries the presence of strange flying objects has been detected in the area, according to versions from the local inhabitants themselves, and that ufologists have also confirmed. 

 

These lines, which can measure almost 300 meters long, were made by forming furrows 10 to 20 centimeters deep on the surface of the desert and although many disappeared over time, most were preserved thanks to the area having a layer of small stones that prevented wind erosion. Despite the fact that the Nazca lines have been visited by countless explorers and researchers, these drawings will remain a mystery for a few more years waiting to be deciphered.
